Who are you?
Oh, that’s probably not what you meant. How about this?
I’m someone who will actually listen to you and give you real, honest feedback through a technique I developed based on asking just the right questions to spur your thinking.
I’m the generous critic.
I won’t sugar coat the feedback, shower you with platitudes, or tell you how nice I think your idea, product, or service is. I won’t be an A-hole either.
Actually, I won’t judge your idea, product, or service at all. It’s not for me to decide if your idea will work, or your product/service will succeed. The market will decide that for you.
By using LMYU you’ll have someone who has a vested interest in helping you. A little bit of stake in the game if you will. I will help you get the best feedback you can possibly get.
What about privacy & security?
Good looking out. Can never be too careful. However, there’s nothing to worry about. I am a top-notch cybersecurity expert with a CISSP certification and have thought about this ahead of time.
I currently use Google Workspace (Gmail) for our entire conversation. So when complete I will compress it, encrypt it, store off-site, and then delete from Google Workspace.
That is until I can move to Hey for Work. Then conversations will be safely archived within Hey. They take all the important security and privacy factors seriously.
What’s stopping you from stealing my idea/niche?
Oh, that’s what you’re worried about? I don’t want your idea/niche. I have too many of my own.
That’s one of the big problems with ideas. They’re just ideas. The execution is where the magic is. That means doing.
And it’s one of the benefits of letting me “why” you. In the end you will either have developed your idea significantly, focused on the important parts, cemented it in your psyche, or discovered its a dud.
Either way you’re saving a ton of time.
Why do you only accept five ideas & landing pages per day?
My sanity? I am just one person and while it is amazing helping others focus on their ideas and improve their chances of success — I don’t have time to add more per day.
Plus I have other projects I’m slow-burning myself and hope to launch some day.
I also don’t want to spread myself so thin I don’t give each and every client, and their ideas, the attention they deserve.
Then there is the day-to-day life (in Japan), my wife, my cats, my dog… video games, the new M1 Mac Mini, Apple TV, and all sorts of things vying for what little precious free time I have in a day.
Probably just like you.
Why is this site called “Let Me Why You?”
Back when I originally started the site I was going to do feedback based around the principle of asking why five times — a technique started by the Toyota corporation in Japan (I happened to have lived in Japan for 24 years).
I quickly expanded to asking any type of question necessary to better serve my clients. Instead of limiting myself to only asking why, I can now ask anything necessary to push my clients into thinking about their ideas and ways they may not have considered of yet.
But originally I was going to “why”my customers — thus “ let me weigh you.” 😊
